Fiber as Part of a Healthy Diet

Fiber is extremely important in maintaining a healthy body.  It is also helpful in preventing many forms of cancer.  Most people do not eat enough fiber each day in order to keep their bodies running smoothly.

Below are some great sources of fiber to help keep your body running at peak performance.  Eat several servings of these foods every day to keep your digestive system functioning smoothly:

1.  Whole-grain breads, cereals and crackers are an excellent source of fiber.  Eat breads and cereals made of whole wheat and rye.

2.  Broccoli is a wonderful source of fiber.  It is best to eat this raw or lightly steamed.  Either way, it is a delicious way to get your daily fiber.

3.  Spinach is an excellent source of fiber and also contains a good amount of iron.  You can use it in salads, on sandwiches or any way you choose.  Just make sure to eat lots of it for your health.

4.  Almonds are also very rich in fiber.  They contain the most amount of fiber out of all nuts and are delicious.  Try sprinkling them over your bowl of cereal or just eat a handful.

5.  Green beans are a great source of fiber.  They can be eaten straight out of the can, or mixed in salads and casseroles.

6.  Strawberries, apples, cherries and raspberries are great sources of fiber and they taste great cut up over your cereal or as a delicious nutritious smoothie.

7.  Brussels sprouts are another kind of leafy green vegetable that will help you get a lot of fiber in your diet.

Try to aim for at least 30 to 35 grams of fiber per day.  If you have not been eating much fiber, then you will notice a difference in how you feel by adding fiber to you diet within just a couple of weeks.  You will feel less sluggish and more energized each day.

Men that look no further than their outsides, think health
an appurtenance unto life, and quarrel with their
constitutions for being sick; but I that have examined the
parts of man, and know upon what tender filaments that
fabric hangs, do wonder that we are not always so; and
considering the thousand doors that lead to death, do thank
my God that we can die but once.
